Autism Practical Support (APS) is growing and we’re looking for passionate, flexible individuals to join our incredible team as Bank Activity Workers.
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a charity that is dedicated to empowering autistic individuals and supporting their families across Cheshire.
Based at APS, Sension House in Northwich, this role covers Cheshire, including Chester, Ellesmere Port, Warrington and surrounding areas. As a Bank Activity Worker, you’ll play a vital role in delivering a wide range of engaging, meaningful activities for our members. From children’s groups and youth sessions to adult meet-ups, sports and wellbeing activities, no two days are ever the same. This is a flexible position with variable hours, including daytime, evening and some weekend work, making it ideal for those looking for adaptable working patterns.
About APS
APS supports autistic individuals to build independence, confidence and connection within their communities. Our sessions are designed to be inclusive, supportive and empowering, helping every person we work with to thrive on their own journey.
We deliver a wide range of activities, including:
- Kids and youth groups
- Sports and multisport sessions
- Adult social groups and meet-ups
- Virtual mental health sessions
- Creative and community-based activities
What You’ll Be Doing
As part of our team, you will:
- Support and deliver engaging sessions across our programmes, including holiday activities
- Work directly with autistic children, young people and adults to encourage participation and confidence
- Provide clear guidance and structure to support members’ needs
- Communicate effectively with parents and carers
- Promote a safe, inclusive and positive environment at all times
- Support safeguarding, health & safety and risk assessment processes
- Record incidents and contribute to ongoing support planning
- Be a positive role model, offering encouragement and pastoral support
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across APS
Who We’re Looking For
We’re looking for individuals who are:
- Caring, enthusiastic and reliable
- Flexible and able to adapt in a fast-paced environment
- Confident working as part of a team
- Passionate about supporting autistic individuals and those with learning disabilities
You’ll ideally have:
- Experience working in an autism-focused or learning disability setting
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- A good understanding of safeguarding, inclusion and equality
- Basic IT skills (Word, Excel, email)
- A full driving licence and access to a car
Enhanced DBS check required
A First Aid qualification is desirable (or willingness to complete one).
